Dos Pasiones Mezcal has 80 years of distilling tradition in Santa Maria Albarradas, Oaxaca, a village of less than 700 people behind it. They are single estate Mezcales made in small batches by Diego and Eduardo Martinez, in the tradition that their father Epigmenio Martinez Perez learned in the 1940's. ¡Viva Mezcal y Musica!
Tepextate plants can take decades to mature in the wild. The plants harvested to make Dos Pasiones Tepextate grow on the mountain top, in ravines and on the sides of cliffs outside of their village, making them extremely hard to harvest. The resulting Mezcal is worth the effort. It tastes of ripe tropical fruit, herbs, green pepper, coffee and roasted peanuts. The finish is long and saliva inducing. Excellent paired with dinner, deserts and coffee.
